I hate the PS3. Yea, I said it, what are you gonna do about it? That what I thought, now sit down and let me embellish on this bold statement. I hate the PS3 for being awesome. Sony's big black box is a fantastic piece of hardware that makes may video games deliciously beautiful. The problem is that there are so few good titles available. We all know this is true so I wont complain too much. But, every once in a little while, something comes along that just might make that 600 price tag worth selling your kidney to that creepy guy you work with that just keeps asking for it...
inFAMOUS is a new title from Sucker Punch, the folks who brought you Sly Cooper. This takes a large departure from the cartoony thievous raccoon. Infamous places you smack dab in the middle of a large explosion after discovering you have a super power. You control electricity at your will and utterly destroy things with it. I have not played inFAMOUS because it has yet to appear on store shelves, but i will say I already know this game will make me finally glad I own a PS3. (Little Big Planet is awesome, but not 600 bucks awesome)
You know you have a blockbuster on your hands when you see a regular looking dude cruising a vast city, GTA style, and zapping people to death with your lightnig powers, using them to throw vehicle at people, and generally speaking, KICKING ASS! George Lucas gets a slight hat tip from me on this one. Force lightning has always been pretty awesome but never fully realized in my opinion. inFAMOUS basically does everything it can with this fantastical ability and it looks like every aspect will be incredibly gratifying.
Sanbox gameplay is great and sweet and awesome, but its not too often we see it done well. The GTA series has done this VERY well, but they lack other detailed aspects (combat) necessary for me to fully enjoy a game. Crackdown was freakin' awesome as well, but not without it's flaws in combat too. As far as I can see, inFAMOUS has nailed the combat side of things, which makes me somewhat giddy to be honest. I cant wait to be hanging off the side of building, peek up over the edge just enough to blast some unsuspecting maniac off the other side! And then I am going to launch a car at his buddy's face!
Help me realize this fantasy and buy me inFAMOUS. I don't get paid to review games so I dont get free copys. So all you freeloaders reading my ad-free article better think about that long and hard, and when you start to feel guilty for enjoying my amazing journalism for free, you can buy me games... starting with inFAMOUS!
